Eric Robert files lawsuit against the City of Greensboro

"Eric Robert, who owns the old flour mill on South Elm Street just south of Union Square, has filed a lawsuit against the City of Greensboro alleging he was promised some of the federal money the city received to redevelop Union Square and hasn’t gotten any.

Robert, who speaks at City Council meetings about downtown issues with some frequency, alleges that his mill was included in the application for federal funds and that he was repeatedly told by city officials, including assistant City Manager Andy Scott, former Mayor Robbie Perkins and former City Manager Denise Roth, that he would get funding for the remediation of the mill, which, because of underground fuel tanks, is considered a brownfield property.

The suit states that now the city has told him he won’t get any of the redevelopment money."
