Roy doesn't mind going after Jim Melvin; "Bryan Foundation Owes $150K In Back Taxes For Stadium"

"An audit by the Guilford County Tax Department has found that Downtown Greensboro Renaissance LLC (DGR), a subsidiary of the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, owes over $150,000 in back taxes on the Greensboro Grasshopper stadium...

The Tax Department, as well as a county review board that ruled on the audit findings, found that, for the years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, DGR did not list the business personal tax items that should have been listed.

...In 2012, DGR – the Bryan Foundation – sold the ballpark at 408 Bellemeade St. to Greensboro Baseball LLC – the owners of the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

On Wednesday, June 10, DGR went before the Guilford County Board of Equalization & Review – better known as the Board of E & R – and that board, on a 5-to-0 vote, upheld the audit and affirmed that the group owed the back taxes, penalties and interest.

...DGR has 30 days – from the day the county mailed the notice of the Board of E & R’s decision – to appeal the decision to the state.

...the Guilford County Tax Department is now in a waiting period to see if DGR will appeal the decision.  That question will be answered by mid-July.

...In the summer of 2012, the owners of the Greensboro Grasshoppers bought the park, now known as NewBridge Bank Park, from the Bryan Foundation for $12.8 million."
