"Lack of bus shelters in city is inexcusable"

"...I do not understand how we can use taxpayer money in a superfluous way to pave sidewalks on two sides of a street, while providing nothing for the folks waiting for buses along these same streets.

It is horrible to see at many city bus stops people of all ages, colors and abilities — some in wheelchairs and on canes, in all kinds of weather, standing on the sidewalks, sitting on hot pavement, crouching in the rain, holding shopping bags and a child’s hand, while they wait.

How much could it cost to provide a simple bench and shelter?

Surely that should come before putting in double sidewalks that stretch for miles!

...It is time for a change in priorities in Greensboro..."
