The Most Dangerous Place In Greensboro During A&T Homecoming

A lot was made of the increase in crime in Districts 1 and 2, commonly called East Greensboro where NC A&T University is located during A&T's annual homecoming week but you might be surprised to learn that District 3 lead the city in violent crime during that same week. The following numbers are taken from information given to EzGreensboro.com by the Greensboro Police Department.

Overall District 1 lead the city with 98 arrests to District 3's 93 arrests but more arrests of the most violent crimes were carried out in District 3.

Conflicting slightly with that view is GPD's list of Part 1 and Part 2 Crimes for that same week. District 3 fares best in those results but seriously, how many of us consider larceny from a coin operated device to be a violent crime that makes us fear for our lives. The biggest difference is the first list is actual arrests and the second is reported crimes. It's not an apples to apples comparison and I'd love to see a list of Part 1 and Part 2 Arrests but NC Public Records laws allows them an out on that because they don't keep such records and I can't demand records they don't already have.

Then there's Citations. District 4 led the city with 122 citations, District 1 was 2nd at 89 and District 2 was 3rd at 68. My guess is that has something to do with where people are driving to and I wouldn't be surprised if District 4 with its larger numbers of employers doesn't often lead the city in citations.
