"North Carolina Railroad closes on megasite property" with $8.5 million of $13 million pledged

"Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan said the company spent $8.5 million for 630 acres of the 875 it has pledged to buy for $13 million

...The North Carolina Railroad is a private company, but owned by taxpayers."
.
.
In North Carolina Railroad had $52,189,201 in debt at the end of 2013, and $4,927,993 in "Cash and cash equivalents" (page 20), where did they get the money, and where is the rest going to come from and when?

I guess some of the $69,099,060 on page 23

Although the information would come from more than regurgitating a press release.

...the North Carolina Railroad Co. came out of nowhere to announce plans to buy 875 acres.

The North Carolina Railroad is a private company, but owned by taxpayers.

Why didn't North Carolina's taxpayers get the $69,099,060?

This thing looks like a crony capitalist slush fund

The company earns all its money from a long-term lease to Norfolk Southern Railway, which uses its rail to haul freight, including two lines through downtown Greensboro.

"all its money" which is then distributed to connected elites
who fund political campaigns via Jim Melvin?

"Board designated funds $42,782,592" on page 28, meaning the North Carolina Railroad has the money to fund the water/sewer infrastructure to the site.

If they pay for it, I am all in.

If not, and Greensboro is asked for the money Melvin and his fellow parasites,
then they can go fuck themselves with their stolen taxpayer skimmed money
