But What About The Children?

Proponents of a downtown Greensboro Performing Arts Center are quick to point out that with all the parking garages available in downtown, that there is plenty of parking available-- at night.

But what about in the daytime when the court houses, offices, restaurants, stores, galleries and museums are filled-- is there enough parking available for a performing arts center in the daytime on a weekday?

I don't know about you but if you look around you'll discover that a lot of Greensboro's residents are retired and might rather see the shows in the daylight hours. I know, they're talking about attracting more young people to the city but retired people generally have more money and more time to spend their money-- are we not going to cater to the very people who are most likely going to attend the musicals, plays, poetry readings, etc?

And if not then why not?

Also, while I know children are in school most of the year there are days when they're not in school-- are we going to have children's programming as well? When? At night, after children should be home in bed? The little darlings will sleep through the shows.

And finally, you know all those young people you're hoping to attract to Greensboro by building a performing arts center? Well it just so happens they're just at the right age to start making babies of their own.
