Summer Night Lights: What Robbie Perkins And DGI Would Prefer You Don't Know About Saturday Night's Downtown Riot

It seems the reasons for Mayor Perkins' proposed downtown curfew may be of his own making. Last Saturday night, Downtown Greensboro Inc invited teens to their free Summer Night Lights (SNL) Movie Night  from 7-11 pm at Festival Park, 200 N. Davie St., in Downtown Greensboro. And about 700 kids showed up to an event whose organizers, DGI and the City of Greensboro, were completely unprepared to handle them.

And Mayor Perkins now wants to use this as an excuse to legislate a Downtown Greensboro curfew. Pretty typical of a lowlife, incompetent crook who doesn't pay his child support until forced to do so by a judge. Charles Cherry was right, the Mayor's daughter deserves a better daddy and Greensboro deserves a better mayor.

PS. It was George Hartsman who pointed me to this information. Remember that when you go to the polls.

Update: You can thank Mayor Perkins and DGI for putting Greensboro on the Drudge Report with this story. This kind of international media attention should really help recruit those multinational corporations to Greensboro, right? Right? So have you figured out how much damage a few bloggers and social networkers can do to a city's reputation or would you prefer we destroy everything you have? Which is it, Mayor Perkins?

Update 2: Roch figures out media reports of a riot were in fact an overblown fabrication. Mayor Perkins didn't want you to know that either.

Update 3: Now we have what might be evidence that the media subterfuge was in-fact staged to force council to pass a curfew.

Update 4: George has more!
