Greensboro's Golden Gate Food Lion Unsafe For Employees And Shoppers

Told you today would be Hell Day. While our politicians try to score political points for protecting Downtown our neighborhoods are under siege and our teens attacked at gun point while on the job. From the Greensboro Police Department:

ROBBERY FROM BUSINESS
Greensboro, NC (08 July 2013)

On July 7, 2013 at approximately 11:00 pm, Officers responded to the Food Lion located at 2208 Golden Gate Drive in reference to an armed robbery of the business.

Michael Amey, white male 29 years of age, an employee of Food Lion, was collecting shopping carts in the parking lot when he was approached by a single suspect armed with a handgun.  The suspect repeatedly struck Mr. Amey in the head with the handgun and forced him into the store.  Once inside the store, the suspect held the employees at gunpoint and then fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money.  The other employees present were Brandy Lankford, white female 20 years of age, and Robert Brooks, black male 19 years of age, neither of which were injured.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6” tall, wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, and blue gloves.  His head and face were covered by a bandana.  He was armed with a handgun. 

Mr. Amey was transported to the hospital via EMS with serious but non life threatening injuries.

The investigation is on going at this time.

Eastern District Officers, K9, and CSI attended the scene.
