2010 Study Showed Need For Increased GPAC Parking

A 2010 parking study sent to me by the City of Greensboro and presented to the Greensboro City Council on February 23, 2010 suggests placing City owned parking garages on several downtown locations showing high pressure parking needs on Elm Street, Green Street and Market Street over a year before the idea to build the downtown Greensboro Performing Arts Center was made public.

The GPAC Task Force, lead by the Community Foundation's Walker Sanders. made the claim as late as 2013 that additional downtown parking would not be needed to accommodate the PAC.

In addition, a 2009 letter from the Greensboro Transportation Department to then City Manager, Rashad Young, indicated:

"...one or two new decks will be needed in the near future (18 to 36 months) in order to meet existing and growing parking demands. The decks should provide between 400 to 1,200 parking spaces..."

In other words: The Greensboro City Council including Robbie Perkins, Zack Matheny and Nancy Vaughan, knowingly allowed Walker Sanders and others on the GPAC Task Force to lie to the Greensboro City Council and the citizens of Greensboro and allowed his lies to go unchallenged.

I will gladly forward these documents to anyone who e-mails me at RecycleBill@gmail.com and asks to see them.
