As it turns out, while discussions concerning employee misconduct must be held in private session, the actual decision to dismiss a municipal employee by City Council must be made in open session.
"Final action making an appointment or discharge or removal by a public body having final authority for the appointment or discharge or removal shall be taken in an open meeting."
And as Jeff Martin points out:
"Still, that’s 5-4, leaving Mujeeb the decision of resigning or being terminated."
Looks like we might soon be seeing yet another law suit against the City of Greensboro. Turns out Mujeeb was smarter than anyone gave him credit for being. And our city council proved themselves the morons I've long said them to be.
