"Robert, the owner of the old Daily Bread Flour Mill complex downtown, said Mayor Nancy Vaughan called on March 21 telling him: “DGI is working on a resolution to kick me off the board because of my blocking tendencies.” Robert suggested some board members might be afraid he would repeat or criticize what they said on his blog.
There is no date set for a vote on involuntarily excusing Robert, and several board members said they hope the issue never comes up despite some movement in that direction.
Members of the board reached for comment said they either didn’t know who was behind the effort to oust Robert or declined to name names. Vaughan said she first heard about a possible move to remove Robert last week but said she couldn’t recall who first told her because she’s had so many conversations with board members at this point.
“I really don’t know ‘who is behind it,’” Vaughan said. “I think it had just reached a critical mass.”
This is rather interesting as George Hartzman and I attended last Thursday's DGI board meeting and #1, Mayor Vaughan wasn't in attendance and #2 there was no discussion of removing Eric Robert or anyone else from the DGI board of directors. In other words: the decisions as to how DGI is run and how your tax dollars are being spent are not being made by the DGI board as a whole.
Which was in-fact the topic of last Thursday's meeting and the reason Eric and others refused to approve the minutes from the previous meeting which according to several board members are lies.
Eric is being punished for writing about what goes on at DGI meetings at his blog with posts like The Cult of non profits - PART I, PART II, PART III and A simple honest request... Eric has been asked and refused to sign a confidentiality agreement-- the meetings are now open to the public you freaking morons, even if you kick Eric out he can still show up and write about what goes on. And so will George and I.
Or how about anyone has a digital recorder for next DGI meeting? Thursday 03/20/14
"Now, remind me why Al Leonard is on the board again??? He does not own anything downtown and does not even live within city limits...and yet has been on the DGI board since 2009..."
Mayor Vaughan, weren't you in charge of fixing DGI just last year? Perhaps you can answer why outside influences are being allowed to decide how Greensboro tax dollars are being spent?
There will be hell to pay if DGI kicks Eric off the board of DGI. On that you have my word.
And to think, this news and the City Obligated to Pay ICRCM $750K comes on the same day I bury Zack Matheny.
That just pisses me off! And you know what I do when I get pissed off? I start thinking about publishing all the personal details I know about the various DGI board members' lives. There will be hell to pay.
Hey axleskater, want to be first?
