Representative John Blust Masquerading As A CPA

Update: After having badgered Mr Blust in online discussions for several hours and seeing his explanations for everything I could throw at him I now believe Mr Blust truthful in saying a 3rd party mistakenly changed his company's website and that it was corrected as quickly as Mr Blust was made aware of the mistake.

Extensive searches of the web have provided no evidence that Representative Blust has represented himself as a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina even though he meets the qualifications.

Begin original post.

I don't usually get involved in State politics and I try my best to stay away from partisan politics but a liar is a liar and a cheat is a cheat so when it was brought to my attention that Representative John Blust had been masquerading as a Certified Public Accountant when in fact he is not I thought it time I made my readers aware.

Exhibit A: A June 1, 2014 cached web page from Ivey, McClellan, Gatton & Talcott, LLP where it states:

"John Blust is an associate with Ivey, McClellan, Gatton & Talcott, LLP. John is a CPA and has served in the United States Army as a Captain for three years after completion of law school. John is currently an elected Representative of the State of North Carolina, and a former North Carolina Senator. John represents individuals and businesses in federal and state courts throughout the state. John also does considerable work representing Chapter 7 Trustees in Bankruptcy litigation."

Exhibit B: The same web page today:

" John Blust is an associate with Ivey, McClellan, Gatton & Talcott, LLP.

Yep, still there. John Blust claiming to be a CPA. But this e-mail from Jean Marie Small, Professional Standards Specialist, NC State Board of CPA Examiners seems to say something altogether different:

"John M. Blust does not show up as a CPA in Board staff records.  Our records do not show that we have received a complaint against him.

We would appreciate you forwarding anything showing that he is a CPA.

Thank you,

I think there are laws against pretending to be a Certified Public Accountant. I wonder if Representative Blust is really licensed to practice law?  I will have already forwarded this info to the State Board of CPA Examiners before Mr Blust gets blustered from having first met the acquaintance of Billy Jones, your friendly freelance, neighborhood Tyrannicide.

Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, I don't care, if they're dirty I'll put them in my sights and pull the trigger.

Update: As these dirty politricksters so often do, Mr Blust has changed his website to say he has passed the CPA exam in an effort to discredit me but that's okay as I saved a screen grab just for such occasions:

When at first you don't succeed, lie, lie again.
