It's November 1, 2015, after July 30, 2015; Three months and two days after the News and Record reported "Officials mull downgrades to Greensboro's Tanger Center" with no update since = Our paper of record sucks at doing its job

"Officials overseeing plans for downtown’s new performing arts center are mulling downgrades to the design to save money.

A scaled-back lobby. A cheaper sound system. Fewer architectural details.

But even then, the cost of building the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts still would go over budget.

So they knew it cost too much up front,
then they tried to cut back
and it still cost too much

On Wednesday, the city released the latest estimate for building and equipping the center: $58 million, about $8 million more than the original planned cost.

Add to that $11.5 million for the land, a triangular plot on Summit Avenue and North Elm and East Lindsay streets, and you get $69.5 million.

The budget, land and all, is $65 million.

69.5 - 65 = 4.5

They knew it cost too much
then they cut some stuff,
and it still cost too much,
and now we haven't heard from them
or the News and Record on the subject
for more than three months
and now Matt Brown and City Council
are going to drop another $5 million plus
into a basketball venue

Greensboro Coliseum Director Matt Brown, along with donor representatives Kathy Manning and Walker Sanders, the executive director of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, arrived at the $58 million design figure in April, after making dozens of cuts both large and small.
