Mayor Vaughan Openly And Willfully Violates Public Records Laws

Recently I submitted a public information request asking for Mayor Nancy Barakat "Grasshopper" Vaughan's telephone logs from July 1, 2015 through November 15, 2015.The following is the reply I got from the City of Greensboro:
"Dear Mr. Jones,

Thank you for your public records request (PIRT # 5267) regarding Mayor Vaughan’s telephone log from July 1, 2015 through November 15, 2015.

Please find the attached record of the calls made to/from Mayor Vaughan’s office phone, during the designated time frame.  The Mayor does not have a City issued cell phone.

I hope this information is helpful to you.

Sincerely,

Katherine Carter, Public Records Administrator
Communications and Marketing Department - 336-373-3282
City of Greensboro
PO Box 3136, Greensboro, NC 27402-3136

Click on the attachment to view the actual phone logs.

As you can see a total of 47 calls is not very many calls for what amounts to almost 6 months of telephone calls.

I replied with the following e-mail:
"Ms Carter,

North Carolina State Law does not designate between personal telephones and Municipal owned telephones. Mayor Vaughan has every right to use her personal telephone(s) for City of Greensboro business but in doing so opens herself up to reporting requirements that require that she supply anyone who asks with her personal telephone(s) logs. This includes any and all home phones, business phones and cell phones.

I would now like copies of all the Mayor's personal telephone logs from July 1, 2015 through November 15, 2015. And I want them yesterday as she has already caused intentional delay and broken State law in doing so.

Thank you.

-Billy Jones"

Our Mayor is determined to bury herself quite deep in this latest quagmire.
