1000 Acres Of Nothing

That's what the effort to close the White Street Landfill got East Greensboro. 1000 acres of no development, no jobs, no future, no arts, no new schools, no education and no hope. We might as well be trying to speed up the Earth for all the good closing the landfill did for the most of northeast Greensboro. Heck, most folks living in East Greensboro didn't even know the landfill was there until it became an issue city wide.

So is that how it's going to be? East Greensboro gets a token gesture while the downtown jesters use $72 Million Dollars of your money and tax the poor to entertain the rich? If you're still hanging on to Hope then I've got bad news: Hope ran off with Downtown Goodtime Charlie a long time ago and if we want Hope back then we have to go fetch her home.

The closing of the White Street Landfill may well have been a good thing but if we allow it to end there we end up with nothing more than 1000 empty acres and a bypass that bypasses our rights to hope and to create our prosperity.

Please join me in bringing the Performing Arts Center to the little green circle in Northeast Greensboro and tell the Downtown Charlies to put our money where their mouth is.
