What The Media And The City Aren't Telling You About The Renaissance Community Co-op Part 12

As I noted previously, the Greensboro City Council and the local media aren't talking about the fact that the City just gave $2 Million Dollars to a couple of tax cheats. They don't want you to know they are allowing filthy rich developers to run away with your tax dollars while not even making them pay their own taxes. Nor do they want to admit their own incompetence.

Of course, this entire series has been a series of secrets exposed as the rich rob the poor and keep coming back for more. To see how bad it really is, start at the beginning with What The Media And The City Aren't Telling You About The Renaissance Community Co-op Part 1. Don't worry, I'll lead you right back to here.

According to John Newsom of the Greensboro News & Record, Skip Alston's clients, Shahzad Akbar and Shehzad Quamar also own the Clarion Greensboro Airport Hotel 415 S Swing Road - Greensboro, NC 27409. (Google Map)

The hotel isn't listed on the NC Secretary of state website so my guess is the corporate name is something else. A trip to the Guilford County property search website confirmed that the property is owned by KHAN HOTELS HOSPITALITY LLC.

A search of the NC Secretary of State website for KHAN HOTELS HOSPITALITY LLC  brings yet a forth player into the Alston group-- a Mr KHAN A KHAN 2305 HILTOP TRAIL JAMESTOWN NC 27282. Who is the mysterious Khan Khan? Why has Mr Khan A Khan not been mentioned before now? Could it be Mr Khan A Khan is actually the wealthy  Asrar Khan,  President and CEO of Khan Hospitality,  the nationwide Hotel-Motel company with locations in California, Okahoma, Missouri and several other states? Is that why Khan, a name defined as supreme ruler didn't want his name mentioned in public?

And who is the doctor from Chicago who has invested in stealing the Renaissance Community Co-op away from our Greensboro community and whose name is still being kept secret?

So much for keeping the profits in the community. So much for the Hippocratic Oath and doing no harm. I guess doctors are only doctors in their examination rooms.

Oh, and just so you know, the City of Greensboro PRIVILEGE LICENSE LOOKUP also has no listings for KHAN HOTELS HOSPITALITY LLC, KHAN HOTELS HOSPITALITY LLC or KHAN A KHAN. Here, try them for yourself: I wonder how much the taxes are on a Clarion Hotel? And how much back taxes might be owed?

And then there's the involvement by Downtown Greensboro Incorporated. Anyone want to tell me why DGI is screwing around in my Northeast Greensboro neighborhood a full 4 miles outside of the BID zone? I bet a lot of downtown business owners and residents would like to know as well.

Several Greensboro City Council members are privately telling myself and many other supporters of the Renaissance Community Co-op that they are working on making changes on last week's decision by City Council to sell the Bessemer Shopping Center to Shahzad Akbar and Shehzad Quamar (you know, the tax evaders) but for Council that creates yet another problem that will come back to bite them in their butts in ways they've yet to understand because they simply aren't capable of making the kinds of judgements councils must make. Would anyone like to address what that problem is?

I'll give you a hint. Writer and editor Philip Herbst said the two word phrase that was once commonly used in this country to describe what is going on is offensive to certain cultures and rightly so, newspapers stopped using the phrase shortly thereafter. And when businesses owner or corporate CEO sees a city with a pattern of such behavior at the highest levels of government they tend to take their money, jobs and economic development elsewhere.

And I'm left wondering, do any of Greensboro's elites pay their taxes? Is that why wasting tax dollars doesn't seem to be an issue for them? Shall I start searching the records of Greensboro's movers and shakers and the businesses they own?
