Greensboro Farmers Market Violates United States Constitution

In 2007 when running a write-in campaign for Mayor of the City of Greensboro I was forced to stop passing out campaign literature at Greensboro's City Center Park because I had failed to realize the park was privately owned and not owned by the City of Greensboro. Freedom of speech is not protected on private property.

Hence my objections to the proposed closing of Festival Park and its replacement with a new privately owned park by the Community Foundation. Each publicly owned space lost is another venue lost to free speech.

Today, Greensboro Mayoral candidate George Hartzman ran into the same problem at the Greensboro Farmers Market-- a property owned entirely by the City and managed by some bungling non profit who obviously hasn't a clue as to the United State Constitution or the United States Supreme Court which has repeatedly ruled that publicly owned parks and other places may not restrict free speech.

I cannot help but wonder if the same would have happened had Robbie Perkins or Nancy Vaughan gone campaigning at the Farmers Market? Probably not as Mr Craft (Craft Insurance) who oversees the market has long been a supporter and enabler of Greensboro's status quo, DGI and the local elites. If I were Mr Hartzman I would sue the morons.

I hope every candidate running for elected office will now make a special trip to the Greensboro Farmers Market to campaign for votes. Remember: it only takes 3 to make it a class action law suit.

Update:  Robbie Perkins and Councilwoman Small gathering votes at the Greensboro Farmers Market with manager David Craft in 2011.

Update 2: In the comments below, David Craft (Collards) was quick to point out that the photograph was not him and was not taken at the Farmers Market but as Greensboro's elites always do, he dodged the real issue altogether. Typical of the cowardice and treachery they always exhibit.
