"Melvin said [Megasite] funding, for now, is coming by way of the Bryan Foundation and private monies."

John Hammer; "Mayor Nancy Vaughan had said
that Melvin didn’t have any personal investment in the area

"Melvin, president of the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation ...is the only member of the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite Foundation, which he incorporated last month.

The foundation's board soon is expected to grow, adding Greensboro City Manager Jim Westmoreland and Randolph County Manager Hal Johnson, Melvin told the Triad Business Journal. He does not expect additional members at this time.

It appears that the mayor of Greensboro
misled Greensboro's City Council
as to who was funding the land purchases
before the vote on utilities for the site.

Melvin led a Piedmont Triad Partnership committee, which previously managed efforts to secure land for the site and was working to raise funds for additional land acquisitions.'

It appears that Greensboro's City Council
was not in possession of who's "private monies"
are involved in the Randolph project before the vote.

Total megasite buildout costs, including land assembly, transportation improvements and water and sewer, are estimated to run between $75 million to $100 million.

Melvin said funding, for now, is coming by way of the Bryan Foundation and private monies.

The Golden Leaf Foundation also has announced a $50 million commitment to support the site in North Carolina that an automobile manufacturer prefers.

Among others in the running: a 1,800-acre site near Siler City, owned by Triad businessmen D.H. Griffin and Tim Booras, which has received certification from the state as a megasite."

"N.C. can cut 3 carmakers from list"

...three companies are off the table for now.

A statewide economic development foundation, Golden Leaf, has pledged $50 million to the project.

Golden Leaf pledged for an auto plant project,
not the Randolph Melvin "and private monies" project.

...they likely won’t be for Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover or Volkswagen, according to Autoblog.com, an automotive news website.

No mention by the News and Record
of a certified ready to go site 10 miles away from the Randolph site
that would cost Greensboro taxpayers nothing.

Volkswagen said Monday that it will invest $1 billion in a Mexico plant to build its Tiguan sport utility vehicle for North American and South American markets.

...Volvo remains a strong candidate for North Carolina.
