What Others Are Saying About Zack Methany

Who Has Egg on their Face over Matheny's DWI?
Of course, as you know the News & Record was quick to praise DGI director Zack Methany after he was busted for DWI passed out in a parking lot known for prostitution and cocaine sales but like myself others haven't been so quick to hoist the Zack "Meth" any flag.

For example, JoeyG writes: Who Has Egg On Their Face Over Methany's DWI? The list includes some pretty big names locally.

And over at Yes-Weekly Jeff Sykes writes: Can't find a better man. The article isn't very flattering.

Of course the morons at Triad City Beat wrote nothing about it. Brian Clarey wears his 2 DWIs like a badge of fucking honor. I can hear him now shouting, "Welcome to the club, Zack!" Trust me folks, Clarey and Ginsburg are bought and paid for journalistic mercenaries, it's only a matter of time before Jordan Green bails to save his integrity.

No, I'm not an angel but despite having what many would call a colorful past my criminal record is a lot cleaner than the people in charge of this city because I'm not a dumbass. And Brian, that report came from the courthouse, not one of those internet sites:

"Telling you because I’m your friend: These internet reports mean nothing. They are not official, crimes are not specified and there is absolutely nothing that any reputable journalist would go on here. It says right on the sheet that they may not be accurate.

What you might want to do is write the case numbers down, go to the basement of the courthouse and see if these criminal charges exist. Those official documents will have everything you need to know." --Brian Clarey

And Ginsburg? He'd shit a brick if you knew what he has done. Why do you think he was doing public information requests for his own name when he discovered Marikay was a confidential informant?  But we'll leave all that for another day. I want some fucking journalism out of your lame ass, Ginsburg, who do you think you are, Joe Killian, aka Joseph Fredrick Wilbur? No wonder we can't get any real journalism in this town, you're all too busy being fucking blackmailed by the status quo you bunch of pussies.

John Hammer wrote in the Rhino Times today:

"Matheny went to work Friday morning and started making telephone calls to people he felt he needed to inform that he had made a mistake, driven when he had had too much to drink and had gotten a DWI.

The problem with those calls is that when he made them he was still too intoxicated to legally operate a motor vehicle.  The body metabolizes alcohol at a fairly consistent rate.  If his blood alcohol content was 0.20 at 5 a.m., then when he started making those phone calls he was still too intoxicated to drive.

The generally accepted standard is that a person metabolizes about 0.015 of blood alcohol content every hour.  Which means if Matheny started making those calls at 9:30 a.m., as reported, he would have tested at about 0.13 – well over the limit.  By noon he would have been down to about a 0.09, still over the legal limit.  And it would not have been until about 1 p.m. that he would have been below the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle.

When asked about the fact that when he arrived at work on Friday he was still legally too intoxicated to drive a car, Matheny said, “You don’t know what I would have blown.”

 As the Rhino Times is now owned by Roy Carroll it appears there won't be any support from Roy Carroll and Company to keep Zack at the helm of DGI. I wonder if Zack's buddy, John Lomax, who he was barhopping with the night before will hire such a lightweight.

And that begs the question: As being charged with a DWI in North Carolina automatically requires a 30 day civil revocation of driving privileges is Zack Methany driving with his license revoked? GPD officers, Guilford County Deputies and North Carolina Highway Patrol should be on the lookout for a black Range Rover driven by a preppy looking white male with dark hair.

There can't be that many black Range Rovers in Greensboro so if you see one the odds are pretty good you've got him.

Let's recount the parties linked to Mr. Matheny:
1. Just about the entire Greensboro City Council-- including Mayor Vaughan-- bent ethics guidelines to get him installed as the director of Downtown Greensboro, Inc.-- an entity funded with city tax dollars;
2. The Melderec crowd initially installed him on the City Council understanding that he would deliver for them repeatedly;
3. The News and Record editorial page endorsed him repeatedly;
4. The Simkins PAC also endorsed him repeatedly; and
5. The Replacements Limited PAC gave him their seal of approval.
I regret that the Rhino Times also was among his endorsers.
All of these entities made a cardinal error. They ignored the maxim that character counts.
Alcohol abuse is a medical problem; and I believe it is also a spiritual problem.
All of us have our faults. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. And redemption is available for nearly everyone.
But in this case, he could have killed someone.
It is my belief that many of Matheny's supporters knew-- or should have known-- certain things. But they put him in responsible positions of power and authority understanding that he was going to deliver what they wanted; and rewarding him for his faithfulness. And other issues simply didn't matter.
