I just finished reading Allen Johnson's blog post, Thinking Out Loud: Ho-hum — another club shooting where he criticizes club owners for not doing more to stop violence after police found bullet casings in a club parking lot. My reply:
Allen, Your paper never even published the truth about the murder of 24 year old Reginald Demarcus Wrenn, a young black male who died on the street just outside my bedroom window. You never discussed the media cover-up. You never discussed the Institutional racism and classism that causes such crimes to take place. And just like our "leaders" you refuse to accept your own responsibility in the matter.
And yet you talk about people dying when it suits your bought and paid for agenda. You're a disappointment to your old community for like so many, when you got out you've proved via years of your actions right here in print that you really don't care about those who you left behind. No wonder the N&R wiped out years of online archives.
You see, Allen Johnson, Editorial Page Editor of the Greensboro News & Record, grew up about 5 blocks from where I grew up and live today. We're even the same age.
