From today's Greensboro News & Record:
"The coliseum, which is the same age as the auditorium, has seen numerous upgrades over the years that have kept that building current and competitive. Not so with its ragamuffin poor cousin....
You buy a car, you have to tune it, rotate the tires and change the oil.
You buy a house, you’ll need a new roof one day and a new furnace.
You build a new arts center, you’ll need to take care of it.
Or when a bitter wind blows, better bring a coat and umbrella."
So the News & Record is implying Greensboro never cared enough about War Memorial Auditorium to take care of it. Fine, what makes you think we'll care enough about GPAC to do any better when the vast majority of Greensboro's citizens have already expressed no interest in building GPAC in the first place?
Are Greensboro's "movers and shakers" really so stupid as to repeat history that is still fresh in our minds? Sadly, I fear they are.
