The resignation of Bob Braswell from the Board of Directors of Downtown Greensboro Inc leaves a vacancy I would love to fill. I'm not kidding. 50% of DGI's public funding comes from taxpayers outside of the Downtown Business Improvement District. Therefore: 50% of DGI's Board of Directors should come from people without financial interest in the Downtown Business Improvement District. I am one of those people.
If we cannot achieve taxation with representation then all of Greensboro should rise up and demand that the Greensboro City Council end all public funding to DGI including the Downtown BID taxes. After all, this is a constitutional issue.
