I tried but last night the Greensboro City Council voted to spend $20 Million Dollars of your money to build the downtown Greensboro performing arts center without voter approval. Council members Tony Wilkins, Dianne Bellamy-Small and Marikay Abuzuaiter voted against it. Thank you Marikay, Dianne and Tony.
Oh sure, in a few years, Downtown Greensboro will be thriving due in-part to the new PAC but like Durham and every other city that has forced these PACs on the taxpayers the rest of the city will continue to crumble and fall apart. You see, they never tell you the whole story when they brag about their accomplishments and encourage other cities to do as they have done.
And to those of you who own businesses downtown, most of you won't be there to thrive with it.
I'm on to other things now, the East Greensboro Performing Arts Center blog will remain up and active but will be building more and taking on new challenges. I lost the battle but I've yet to lose the war.
