As I write this blog post there's a meeting going on in East Greensboro to discuss building a highway across the NC A&T University Farm to connect East Florida Street with Franklin Blvd. I had planned to be there but I mistakenly spent 10 whole minutes driving from Phillips Avenue to the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering on East Lee Street. Can you imaging that, all the way from North Greensboro to South Greensboro in 10 minutes in rush hour traffic in the rain? try that in West Greensboro.
Methinks Mayor Perkins needs to better learn how to get around the city he represents as he obviously doesn't know the short cuts.
Problem was, the meeting was at A&T University which I passed by at the 5 minute mark of my trip so I didn't make the meeting. It's probably just as well, after a day of EKGs, chest X-Rays and other medical procedures my stress level is a bit higher than many people would like me anyway.
I'm wondering if anyone at the meeting will bring up Innisbrook Village on McConnell Road as one of the real reasons Robbie wants to build a road across the A&T Farm? You see Innisbrook Village is owned by Roy Carroll, the man who paid Mayor Perkins 4/5s of his almost $500,000.oo earnings last year.
I'm wondering if anyone will bring up the proposed new home of the Greensboro Sportsplex on the corner of Franklin Blvd and McConnell Road? I went downtown a couple of weeks ago hoping to look at City Planning Maps but Butch Simmons didn't offer to let me see them. Instead, he had the lady at the desk tell me to see someone who worked for Butch but when she called that someone she was told he wouldn't see me. Seems to me like it would have been a very simple matter to open up a map and say, "See, what you're asking about isn't on our map, must be a mistake on Google's end."
But no, apparently the City of Greensboro prefers citizens think them all a bunch of liars.
And finally, I'm wondering if anyone will bring up the fact that when I tried to make Councilman Jim Key aware of this, someone hacked his e-mail and intercepted my message to him?
