For years I've tried to make the case that the reason we cannot continue to allow developers and realtors to run our cities is because development is an economic indicator and not the economic driver our local elected leaders want you to believe it to be: Development for development's sake does not work. Never has, never will. The US Housing bubble wrecked the world's economy. Then the European crash wrecked the world economy. Next up, the Chinese housing bubble brought to you by developers with the full backing of the Chinese government.
