"The most successful PR campaign ever initiated by DGI was to actually make people afraid of going downtown. The people s current perception of downtown was actually shaped by DGI and its board...remember the curfew?"
Via Real Progress For Greensboro.
DGI's second most successful PR campaign: scaring away downtown shoppers by removing downtown benches for fear homeless people might sleep on the benches. I don't know about you but I've never been attacked by a sleeping person even though I've been attacked by lots of people who were wide awake.
DGI's third most successful PR campaign: scaring away potential downtown investors with silly "good repair" and other ordinances that look very much like potential land grabs.
I still want a seat on the DGI board. Don't you think Ed Wolverton deserves me.
