Paid For What They Know?

We have a class of people in this country who call themselves professionals. They are highly educated, produce nothing and yet are very well paid. If you ask them why they are paid so well they will likely explain they are paid not for what they do but for what they know. Most are quite proud of the fact. Among their numbers are university professors who never teach and "third party" consultants whose primary business is to provide politicians and businesses with the answers the politicians and businesses want the public to hear. Lawyers and other professionals sometimes fall into this same category. And while few of these professionals make up the ranks of the wealthiest 1%, they are their enablers.

In other circles, people who only get paid for what they know are commonly called blackmailers. I'll leave it up to you, dear readers, to discern the difference.
