Update: Background on what might be the real reason for the expulsion of Faucette Farms. Begin original post:
Well, I wonder what David Craft has to say for himself now? Someone is concerned that Michael Faucette of Faucette Farms in Browns Summit might not be growing all the produce he's selling at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market. Okay, so there are rules.
So what do the folks at the farmers market do? Nothing more than a haphazard investigation of Michael Faucette's farm, a single inspection and discover he is out of stock of one item at the time of their inspection then ban him from the market from the rest of the year.
No big deal, right? That is, until Mr Faucette who is now losing $2K a week decides to drag the Greensboro Farmers Market and the City of Greensboro into Guilford County Superior Court. From the article:
"More allegations against Faucette came in February, regarding potatoes, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, spinach and squash at his tables at the market.
Again, Faucette contends in court records, he showed inspectors around his farm, and pointed out to them some spinach in his fields, logs where the mushrooms were grown and potatoes in storage.
There were no grape tomatoes at the farm, according to the suit, because Faucette said he was sold out."
Well duh, they waited until February... Did they happen to note Mr Faucette's farm is located in Guilford County, North Carolina? Nobody has tomatoes in February! What's that? Bugs Bunny has something to add:
Problem is: the Greensboro Farmers Market has no money to pay off a law suit. But don't worry, no matter how deep the hole David Craft and the rest of the Downtown non profiteers dig, the City of Greensboro will always be obligated to dump enough manure on the farmers market to keep it alive just as they do DGI, Action Greensboro, the Greensboro Partnership and the rest of the Downtown "non profits." The food may be organic and natural but the management is as genetically modified and screwed up as science can make it.
Me? I'll grow my own... I may not be rich but I eat damned good. By the way, I now have 3000 gallons of rainwater storage plus water recovery having added 800 gallons over the winter after having not used any city water in over 5 years.
