Forwarded to me by Joseph Wilkerson of Uptown Greensboro:

"From: "Wyatt, Dave"
Date: April 5, 2013, 8:54:17 AM EDT
 To: "uptowngreensboro@yahoo.com"

Subject: Greensboro, Guiford County, BNorth carolina - Proposed Beautificaation (Paining of bridges) - Summit Ave. (283.20), Lindsey Ave. (283.30), East Market (283.50), East Washington (283.70) - File: BR0012834 (117-12132)

 Joseph Wilkerson:
Reference is made to our conversation regarding the desire for a beautification project (painting) involving  the following four (4) structures:

Summit Ave. (Milepost 283.20)
Lindsey Ave. (Milepost 283.30)
East Market (Milepost 283.50)
 East Washington (Milepost 283.70)

If the City and/or Up-Town Greensboro desires to proceed with the beautification project (at no ($0)cost to the railroad) a preliminary engineering agreement, similar to the attached, will have to be executed.  If the proposed project is approved, a Beautification Agreement, similar to the one attached, will have to be executed.  Please note that the North Carolina Railroad owner of the property will have be involved in approval process and be a signee to the agreement.

Please advise  whether or not the City and/or Up-Town Greensboro desires to pursue the Beautification Project, and, if so, we will forward a Preliminary Engineering agreement for execution and handle the approval of the proposed project will all involved parties.

Have A Safe Day!

If you'd like to volunteer to help with the project contact jOseph at uptowngreensboro@yahoo.com

Too bad the folks at Downtown Greensboro Incorporated never had ideas like this. Greensboro might be a lot better place today. In case you haven't heard, jOseph and Uptown Greensboro are looking for local artists and others who are willing to volunteer time and money to repaint the ugly railroad bridges to the east side of Downtown Greensboro. And while all 4 bridges are located in the Uptown they do mark the entrances to Downtown Greensboro where all the money is as Uptown Greensboro has no BID (Business Improvement District) and no taxing authority but is still working to improve the community. As Dang once said, "They stopped being creative the day we gave them a city funded budget..."

Please, give jOseph and Uptown Greensboro your support. That is, as long as they're not asking for a budget.
