Roy Carroll is bringing the downtown noise issue back to Greensboro City Council in the next 60 days with help from Downtown Greensboro Inc. But here's the part Roy isn't telling us. When Roy let the bids for Centerpoint he specified sound proof glass but when the time came to install the glass Roy forced the contractors to install cheaper glass that doesn't insulate against sound. Even diners in the ground level, Nico's Restaurant & Bar, complain not of noise from downtown clubs but from passing cars and trucks
It is time to get a new noise ordinance passed-- one that forces Roy Carroll to bring his building up to the standards he promised those who bought homes and businesses in his building. Fraud is fraud is fraud and Roy Carroll committed fraud when he misrepresented the soundproof glass in his building. The rest of Greensboro should not have to suffer for the mistakes of Greensboro's richest developer.
It's time the City of Greensboro demanded the records on the glass that was used in Roy's building-- every window, every floor. And if Roy and his contractors are unwilling to produce said records then City Council has the responsibility to tell Roy Carroll to go away and quit wasting everyone's time.
