Tit For Tat: The Greensboro Inn Comes Back

Hell came early... I couldn't wait any longer for Monday to come...

Remember the fuss a while back about the Greensboro Inn 135 Summit Ave in Downtown Greensboro? You know, the flophouse the City wanted closed because of all the crime and prostitution there? Yeah, that one.

Well it has come to my attention that despite what you might have heard to the contrary, the GPAC Task Force and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro along with Mayor Robbie Perkins, Nancy Hoffmann and Nancy Vaughan have worked out a little deal with the owners of the Greensboro Inn in exchange for forcing them out of business and taking their property to build that new downtown park Walker Sanders is salivating to build with that rich widow's endowment.

But first, who owns the Greensboro Inn? According to Guilford County Real Property Data that would be KHAN AND KHAN INC. The Kahn family, the same folks who own convenience stores all over Greensboro, the same Kahn family who is partnered with Shehzad Akbar and Shehzad Quamar who according to the News & Record, own the Clarion Greensboro Airport Hotel. But the Clarion Hotel actually belongs to (drumroll please) the Kahn family! That is, if Guilford County records are correct.

So what has this got to do with anything? Well it just so happens that Shehzad Akbar and Shehzad Quamar are the developers who were given the Bessemer Shopping Center along with $2 Million Dollars in forgivable loans just 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Were Shehzad Akbar, Shehzad Quamar and members of the Kahn family given a shopping center and $2 Million Dollars in exchange for a downtown property on which to build a downtown performing arts center and privately owned park?

I don't think you need a tin foil hat to see it. East Greensboro has been sold out to build the downtown performing arts center.

And folks, Hell Day ain't over, not by a long shot. If I were seated on the Greensboro City Council I'd be calling my lawyer ASAP. And perhaps hiring a few personal body guards. A few dozen, that is.
