Google Maps to the rescue. it is in-fact, the English Street Market 1006 S English Street which according to the Guilford County Registrar of Deeds still does not exist. I tried to look up The English Street Market at the NC Secretary of State but came up blank again.
So being there's no deed for 1006 S English St I decided to look at the Properties on either side of it for commercial ownership. The property at 1004 S English appears to still belong to the same little old lady who has lived there for as long as I can remember but the property at 1008 S English belongs to MCFADDEN ENTERPRISES INC., 3438 MCCONNELL RD so it's back to the NC Secretary of State where we learn that a Mr THOMAS E MCFADDEN is the owner of MCFADDEN ENTERPRISES INC and BEJU, INCORPORATED, 106 S. MURROW BLVD. which was ordered dissolved by the State of NC in 1990-1993 and the records sealed.
People always think the worst when the records are sealed.
It also appears Mr McFadden has previously been reprimanded by the NC Board of Realtors
"THOMAS E. McFADDEN (Greensboro) -By Consent, the Commission reprimanded Mr. McFadden for failing as broker-in-charge of a real estate office to adequately supervise salesmen working at such office."
This may or may not be the same charge.
"THOMAS E. MCFADDEN (Greensboro) – By Consent, the Commission reprimanded Mr. McFadden effective August 1, 2006. The Commission found that Mr. McFadden, as principal broker and broker-in-charge of a real estate firm, failed to maintain his trust accounts in compliance with the Real Estate License Law and Commission rules. The Commission noted that Mr. McFadden has brought his accounts into compliance and no consumers were harmed as a result."
Did you know he was previously a biology professor? According to the NC Secretary of State he also owns FAMILY REALTY COMPANY, INCORPORATED, 1401 EAST WASHINGTON STREET. It's not uncommon for professors in Greensboro to retire and become local slum lords here in East Greensboro. Is Professor McFadden yet another of these elitist bastards drawing state pensions while the poor around them live in sub standard housing? I mean, seriously folks, if you had any clue how many of my neighbors tell me their neighbors are professors or retired professors....
But does he own the convenience stores that burned? Were they rented to the men who were given the Bessemer Shopping Center? Is this retaliation for years of robbing Greensboro's poor and working class communities by the rich elites? Insurance fraud like our buddy, Reverand Gayland Oliver? Or just a coincidence that two East Greensboro convenience stores caught fire in just over 12 hours?
And don't you think it strange how every East Greensboro mystery I uncover has ties to Downtown Greensboro? Welcome to Hell Day! Welcome to Greensboro!
