GPD reported 3 driveby shootings in Greensboro last night. Two were in or near the projects off of South Elm Street, the third very near a well-to-do neighborhood in North Greensboro (Link to google map) in an area where well-to-do people move to get away from such things.
Drive-by shootings are nothing new here in Greensboro. My first recollection of a drive by shooting was in grade school, 5th grade, I think, in the 1960s when I awoke to find my own Greensboro home being shot up. Ask any Greensboro police officer off the record and they'll admit they haven't the manpower to keep Greensboro's many communities safe and yet our "leaders" can still "find" money for a downtown performing arts center.
I guess it's just too bad the drive by shootings didn't take place in Irving Park. You see, it's the job of these "non profit" foundations to benefit the entire community but instead they only give where it will do them the most good. That wasn't how it was supposed to work.
Think about that come November, think about who voted for GPAC while ignoring the fact that your homes are being shot at while you sleep and your family members robbed early mornings while on their way to work. Think about that before you cast your vote for Nancy Vaughan or Robbie Perkins who have both worked to build GPAC while innocent people die.
And they don't care.
