Agendas

From Merriam-Webster

"1  :  a list or outline of things to be considered or done
2 :  an underlying often ideological plan or program "

Since I started my campaign almost 2 years ago detractors have constantly accused me of having an agenda. They toss the word agenda about as if there is something wrong with having an agenda and I guess if you happen to be my detractors whose agenda is to keep the status quo elites in power in Greensboro-- the same people who have created the following problems for our city then I guess there is a problem with having an agenda.

Greensboro leads the State of North Carolina in unemployment.

We live in a city that is currently dead last in North Carolina in new job creation.

We live in a city that ranks 97 out of 100 and falling in household earnings.

We live in a city that ranks ranks 100th out of 102 markets in economic vitality.

We live in a city that ranks 95th out of the largest 100 cities in terms of citizens' ability towards upward mobility.

We like in a city that spent $300 Million Dollars on a Fedex Hub for 1500 promised jobs that never came.

We live in a city whose City Council cuts deals with business owners who sell wine and beer for food stamps.

We live in a city where a culture of exploitation and a small powerbase formed by cronyism and nepotism are the hallmarks of a system that steals from its citizenry.

We live in a city where $150 Million Dollars was spent on economic development in the eastern half of the city since 2008 and yet the City was unable to provide me with facts and figures that showed their projects worked.

We live in a city that despite being unable to provide proof of any successes for said economic development projects in east Greensboro now plans to go ahead full steam on similar projects along Lee Street and High Point Road.

And finally, we live in a city that has just invested over $60 Million Dollars on a project that has been proven not to work even before they start construction.

So yes, I have an agenda and that's a good thing. My agenda: to point out their lies. Their agenda: to keep padding their own pockets.
