Dixie Apartment residents evicted to make way for downtown development

This morning I was made aware by alert reader Hugh that the story was posted to the News & Record early this morning. You can find it by searching for the title in Bing but when you click on the actual link to the page... Well, all you get is a blank page.

Hugh tells me it's a Roy Carroll project.

If you search Bing using the term dixie apartments greensboro you'll find the same blank page twice but in the preview offered by Bing News it reads:

"GREENSBORO— As developer Roy Carroll moves ahead with his 4-acre mixed use development, residents of a historic downtown building have until April 1 to move…"

The preview under Google News:

"Downtown block adjacent to NewBridge Bank Park purchased by Roy Carroll in Greensboro, NC on March 14, 2014. (H. SCOTT HOFFMANN ..."

Why the cover-up, News & Record?

Well you can remove it from the News & Record archives but it will always remain online here. And people will always think Roy Carroll and the News & Record suspect.

Update: 12:30 PM The News & Record has now redirected the link to point to a different article posted Friday. The article by Kelly Poe is obviously edited but makes no mention of the editing:

As you can clearly see, the title of the missing article is not the same as the article the link now points to.

Update: 1:10 PM Kelly Poe of the News & Record explains on Facebook:

Kelly's a good kid, everyone makes boo-boos and we're even allowed a few ah-shits! from time to time.
