Greensboro's Bloggers Are Right Again

Wednesday, May 21, I passed along a story by Ben Holder about Water Reclamation Division Manager Don Howard who was being investigated along with others in the Water Resources Department. Today, the News & Record's Margaret Moffett Banks reports:

"The city has fired one of its highest paid administrators.

City spokesman Donnie Turlington said the city on Friday dismissed Don Howard, a manager in the water department.

Turlington declined to comment on the nature of the investigation, citing employee privacy laws."

So why was Howard fired? Stealing city resources and running his own business, a bakery, on city time. Thanks to bloggers and activists like Ben Holder and others these things get made public and don't get swept under the table.

Isn't that right, Mr Westmoreland? And Madam Mayor, about those rate increases for water and sewer?
