Was there an audit or not?
#1 Imogene
Cathey (UNCG attorney) said Saturday that officials audited only
University Relations, the workplace of three former staffers charged
with felonies over when and where they worked freelance jobs.
“To
our knowledge, no previous audits regarding secondary employment have
been conducted in other departments on campus,” Cathey said in an email
sent to the News & Record Saturday night.
“Supervisors
have the authority to initiate an audit when they believe that an audit
may provide information relevant to the assessment of employee
performance.”
“We approached University Relations and said we think we have a situation that might require a criminal investigation,” he said.
Maimone,
meanwhile, said Paul Mason, the associate vice chancellor for marketing
and strategic communication, did not conduct a formal
university-mandated audit of University Relations, which he supervises.
Rather, he reviewed the use of staff time and resources.
And on the subject of the investigation:
The
university had a duty to “report evidence of inappropriate activity to
the proper authorities,” she wrote, “as was done in this situation.”
Are you confused yet? I'm not. Paul Mason is lying and the Brady Bunch is attempting a cover-up-- that explains everything.
And on the subject of the investigation:
I just put these together and thought you may want to post them in
some way if you'd like. They're close but not specifically in exact
chronological order. Thanks for what you're doing!
Brady's first letter:
Although
it would be inappropriate to discuss details of the pending criminal
cases, we can say that the charges stemming from this investigation were
determined and brought forward by the Guilford County District
Attorney’s office, not UNCG.
Brady's second letter:
“No
university administrators provided input or direction to campus police
or the district attorney’s office regarding the pursuit of criminal
charges,” Brady wrote.
GREENSBORO
– UNCG brought evidence to the local district attorney’s office before
it filed felony theft charges last week against three former employees,
according to Howard Neumann, assistant Guilford County district
attorney.
• UNCG
provided more detail about how the criminal investigation came about.
Herring said police learned about possible criminal activity from a
third party who did not work for University Relations. Herring did not
identify that employee.
