Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House
The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump
Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks...
Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected
That’s the consensus view
The CIA has concluded
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell
voiced doubts about the veracity of the intelligence
...After the election, Trump chose McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao,
as his nominee for transportation secretary...
Agency briefers told the senators it was now “quite clear”
that electing Trump was Russia’s goal
The CIA presentation to senators about Russia’s intentions
fell short of a formal U.S. assessment produced by all 17 intelligence agencies
Russia’s intentions fell short of a formal U.S. assessment
There were minor disagreements among intelligence officials
about the agency’s assessment,
in part because some questions remain unanswered.
There were minor disagreements
Intelligence agencies do not have specific intelligence
showing officials in the Kremlin “directing” the identified individuals
to pass the Democratic emails to WikiLeaks
Intelligence agencies do not have specific intelligence
Those actors were “one step” removed from the Russian government,
rather than government employees
Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks,
has said the “Russian government is not the source.”
“I’ll be the first one to come out and point at Russia if there’s clear evidence,
but there is no clear evidence — even now,” said Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.),
the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee
and a member of the Trump transition team.
Why would the Washington Post announce a fact at the top of the story,
only to contradict the same fact in the middle?
“There’s a lot of innuendo, lots of circumstantial evidence, that’s it.”
I believe that they should take those doctored files with a grain of salt
because of the way in which they were stolen and the way they were put on the internet.
I will not open up files — what I like to refer to
files that have been postmarked from Russian sources.
I don’t believe that we as Americans should allow this type of espionage to occur

2015 Benghazi Hearing under oath
In essence, in order to give Mrs. Clinton a pass, the FBI rewrote the statute,
inserting an intent element that Congress did not require.
The added intent element, moreover, makes no sense:
The point of having a statute that criminalizes gross negligence
is to underscore that government officials have a special obligation
to safeguard national defense secrets;
when they fail to carry out that obligation due to gross negligence,
they are guilty of serious wrongdoing.
The lack of intent to harm our country is irrelevant.
People never intend the bad things that happen due to gross negligence.
