"North Carolina is no longer classified as a democracy"

"...North Carolina’s overall electoral integrity score of 58/100 for the 2016 election places us alongside authoritarian states and pseudo-democracies like Cuba, Indonesia and Sierra Leone.

If it were a nation state, North Carolina would rank right in the middle of the global league table – a deeply flawed, partly free democracy that is only slightly ahead of the failed democracies that constitute much of the developing world.

Why would Jim Melvin give Phil Berger $7,000?

Why would Vanessa Carroll give Phil $5,000?

Why would the Koury clan give to Phil?

Why would Wells Fargo's Stanhope Kelly give Phil $4,000?

Why would Roy Carroll give Phil $10,200?

Why did Marty Kotis give Phil $10,200?

North Carolina does so poorly on the measures of legal framework and voter registration, that on those indicators we rank alongside Iran and Venezuela.

If democracy is government by the people, plutocracy by the wealthy
oligarchy by a few, aristocracy by nobility, theocracy by clergy
corptocracy by business and autocracy by one, what does North Carolina have?

When it comes to the integrity of the voting district boundaries no country has ever received as low a score as the 7/100 North Carolina received. North Carolina is not only the worst state in the USA for unfair districting but the worst entity in the world ever analyzed by the Electoral Integrity Project.

The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe
if the people tolerate the growth of private power
to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself

That, in essence, is fascism
ownership of government by an individual
by a group or by any other controlling power

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

...legislative power does not depend on the votes of the people. One party wins just half the votes but 100 percent of the power. The GOP has a huge legislative majority giving it absolute veto-proof control with that tiny advantage in the popular vote. ...This is above and beyond the way in which state legislators are detached from democratic accountability as a result of the rigged district boundaries. They are beholden to their party bosses, not the voters.

If only a few contribute the majority of large campaign donations that many can’t afford,
like Roy Carroll and Marty Kotis etc...,
who works for whom, and what do the few usually expect in return
that most probably won’t receive?

Seventy-six of the 170 (45 percent) incumbent state legislators were not even opposed by the other party in the general election..."

North Carolina appears to be a corptocracy, plutocracy and oligarchy
supported by a subtle form of fascism
as the evidence is pretty clear considering the campaign contributions

Characteristics of Fascism in North Carolina:

1. Powerful and Continuing State Nationalism
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
4. Religion and Government are Intertwined
5. Corporate Power is Protected
6. Labor Power is Suppressed
7. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
8. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
9. Fraudulent Elections

Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism,
as it is the merger of corporate and government power

Benito Mussolini

Fascism in power is the open, terroristic dictatorship of the most reactionary,
the most chauvinistic, the most imperialistic elements of finance capitalism.

Georgi Dimitrov of Bulgaria

The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history,
whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite.

Thomas Jefferson

Fascism, at any rate the German version,
is a form of capitalism that borrows from Socialism
just such features as will make it efficient for war purposes.

George Orwell

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations,
which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength
and bid defiance to the laws of our country.

Thomas Jefferson

Propaganda must be so popular and on such an intellectual level,
that even the most stupid of those toward whom it is directed will understand it...

Through clever and constant application of propaganda,
people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around,
to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise

Adolf Hitler

Education is dangerous

Every educated person is a future enemy

Hermann Goering

Fascism is capitalism in decay

Vladimir Lenin
