Greensboro's communications/news/information dissemination industry is supposed to keep an eye on the government and its connected rent seekers for the people, but it doesn't, our local news outlets keep an an eye on the people for its bought and paid for elected government and its City executive cronies
Because the few who control most of the dissemination of most local political opinion, who enjoy relatively disproportionate levels of influence than the many who don’t, are encumbered with track records of being pretty wrong about multiples of issues over the years, while intentionally misrepresenting or omitting truth in the interests of a select few who have more influence than most others
Nancy Vaughan betrayed the trust of Greensboro's voters while the Greensboro News & Record knew of her issues and failed to inform the public before an election, as usual
Greensboro’s political and local opinion writers didn't see the gross corruption coming and going, as most of our elected leaders and city staff didn't know or didn't want to know, or that some knew in the run up to the 2017 election the performing arts center is going to be financially unsustainable, and did the deals anyway while keeping the truth from the public
Some who now share relatively high portions of blame left the same corrupt leadership in place while espousing how responsible 'they' have been to Greensboro's community to win an election
Nancy Hoffmann nominated her business partner, Nick Piornack, to Downtown Greensboro Inc.’s board, after voting to loan Piornack’s firm $200,000 for a parking lot that created spots where patrons of her three recently purchased buildings will likely park for a fee
Hoffmann also nominated the architect for her now-taxpayer-subsidized project at 304 S. Elm via a DGI grant, which city taxpayers funded via a Hoffmann City Council vote. The interior designer for the same property now serves on the Minimum Housing Standards Commission
Council members place citizens who do business with them on city boards, and don't disclose the connections
If Billy Jones were Mayor, Council Members would disclose financial interests in businesses and nonprofits, as well as organizations they are involved with that are reliant on City Council votes bequeathing everyone else’s money to themselves, and our press would be obligated to disclose how crooked our City is
This City Council allowed private businesses intensely involved in convincing City Council with words and money to build a $80 million plus performing arts center that Randall, Kathy and Roy can now profit from, and they voted again to have everyone else cough up more money to go directly into their pockets in parking decks
Write in Billy Jones because our press is a big, corrupted turd who let this stink happen
