On Friday, March 14, 2014 I posted Zack Matheny's Wyndham Text Messages: Part 2 in which I posted a link to a text message sent to me by Mr Matheny as evidence that he caught a plane to Washington, DC at 8:10 PM on Tuesday, Feb 4 to attend the National Prayer Breakfast.
I asked for credit card receipts or other evidence that Councilman Matheny actually flew to Washington but never got a reply so I checked the minutes of the February 4 City Council Meeting only to learn that Councilman Zack Matheny seconded the motion to adjourn the city council meeting at 10:10 PM. Zack never caught his 8:10 flight. Mr Matheny is not required by law to give me copies of his credit card receipts or other evidence that isn't deemed public information under state and federal disclosure laws.
From City of Greensboro Public Information Release 3317 I picked up earlier today:
On Tuesday, Janurary 28, 2014, Councilman Zack Matheny sent the above e-mail indicating that he would be out of town on a Thursday to attend the National Prayer Breakfast so it is still possible he could have left the Greensboro City Council meeting after seconding the motion to adjourn at 10:10 PM. gone to the party at Randal Kaplan's home that same night to attend the celebration party for the $1.975 Million Dollar incentive grant that Councilman Matheny voted against and has claimed to be opposed to and still had all day Wednesday to make the 300 mile journey from Greensboro to Washington, DC in time for breakfast. As a matter of fact, from the National Prayer Breakfast website:

Each day in DC will have scheduled items unique to our Washington delegation. We begin with an introduction dessert and briefing on Tuesday evening at the Washington Hilton Hotel.
Wednesday, the first full day for our group, will include a Gathering on The Hill with some of our Congressional Delegation, a Capitol tour, and several meetings and meals with people from across the country and globe. Thursday morning is a full day of events including the National Prayer Breakfast, hosted by Members of the Congressional fellowship groups, a National Leadership Seminar, breakout sessions with International guests, and the Family Dinner to close the evening.
Friday, our final day, will be spent with the Washington delegation touring the DC area and seeing firsthand the great work of several ministries that are making amazing impacts in vastly different parts of the city. To close our time we will have a final wrap back at the Hilton to hear about our experiences through the week and what we will take back to the Pacific Northwest as a result of this time."
So was Zack there for one, two or three days? Or did he attend at all? This Facebook post seems to establish that Zack was in Washington on Thursday February 6.
And this post with Congressman Howard Coble seems to make it pretty clear that Zack was in Washington on Friday, February 7, 2014.
But where was Zack after he missed his 8:10 PM flight on Tuesday, seconded the motion to adjourn the Greensboro City Council meeting at 10:10 PM and Thursday morning? And did he attend the Tuesday night party at Randal Kaplan's home to celebrate a victory Zack claims to have fought against? Was Zack in Washington on Wednesday, Feb 5? There are no February 5 entries on his Zack Matheny For Congress Page.
There are also no February 5th entries on Zack's personal Facebook page. Could Zack have gone to the party at Randall Kaplan's home, slept late the next morning then flown or drove to Washington on Wednesday?
And why has Zack still not provided credit card receipts or other confirmation of his flight? Did he drive? Then he probably has credit card statements to reflect that as well. After all, not many cars will go from Greensboro, NC to Washington DC and back on a single tank of gas. Why did Zack try to lead me to believe he caught an 8:10 PM Tuesday night flight to Washington, DC that he clearly never caught?
On a positive note, the same PIRT reveled that City Council and staff were quick to cut off at the knees another request for incentives from yet another company hoping to film a TV show series with little chance of success in Greensboro. Hey, when they do good I call that too.
Oh, by the way, the same guy asking for incentives to start the TV show was also asking for money for his "non profit." Mayor Vaughan cut that off as well. Like I said, when they do good...
