The Yvonne And Walter Johnson Saga: Part 8

In reading Part 7 of our series, The Yvonne And Walter Johnson Saga we learned that Greensboro City Councilwoman Yvonne Johnson's husband was found guilty by the NC Bar and suspended of his liscense to practice law for a period of 3 years on Feburary 13, 2003 with his suspension to be stayed for 5 years provided he met certain conditions.

Less than 1 year later, Walter T Johnson would again face the law as a defendant in NC State Bar v. Walter T Johnson, January 2004.  So much for the self-policing policy of the NC Bar. The history of Walter T Johnson shows the Bar is incapable of policing itself and as corrupted as any other political body.

According to the linked document, Walter T Johnson stole and never returned a total of $32,570 from numerous clients he was hired to represent but failed to do so.

He also failed to file State and Federal income taxes.

He owed the IRS over $500,000.

I think it is safe to say that Walter T Johnnson's wife, Yvonne Johnson and his daughter, Guilford County assistant district attorney, Lisa Johnson-Tonkins, were at this point, complicit in Walter Johnson's efforts to circumvent seizure of his assets and remain so today.

Walter Johnson never again practiced law. According to NC State Bar v. Walter T Johnson, February 2005,  Walter T Johnson was disbarred. Finally! What the hell took them so long?

Walter Johnson still owed over $500,000 to the IRS and now he also owed $14,500 to Herbert Caviness, $1,900 to Douglas Dick, $3,800 to James Brown and $1,900 to Sherrall Parker. And unlike before, when the State Bar simply fined Johnson $50 and allowed him to go back to ripping people off, this time they demanded he pay it back before he be allowed to practice law again.

Walter T Johnson decided it would be easier and cheaper to never practice law again. After all, neither he nor Yvonne owned anything of value, everything was already in the corporation's name. The corporation headed up by Yvonne's daughter, Lisa Johnson-Tonkins, now candidate for Guilford County Clerk of Court.

Are you now beginning to figure out how it is that Greensboro's elites and politically connected never get taken before a judge in Guilford County?

Yes, most of the people Walter Johnson ripped off were criminals. Some of them were hardened criminals but most were first time offenders. Many of them were young fathers whose wives and mothers needed them back home to help support the babies they left behind while they were in prison-- babies that would instead grow up without a father and without the money their mothers and grandparents gave to Walter Johnson so that Walter, Yvonne, Lisa and her siblings could continue to go to the finest schools, sit on the boards, hold political offices and lead the good life. Walter Johnson took from the mouths of poor babies black and white to live his blessed lifestyle while he and Yvonne sat on the pews every Sunday making names for themselves for all their "good deeds."

These weren't rich families Walter Johnson was ripping off. Had they been rich families he would have only gone before the North Carolina Bar on one occasion and all would have been over. Rich people don't have to tolerate such nonsense. And Yvonne? Yvonne Johnson never once opened her mouth and said a word. Yvonne even signed the papers to make sure the family's properties would not be taken to pay what they owed.

And folks, this started long before 1996 when Walter Johnson was first caught by the NC Bar.
