WEDNESDAY, JULY 29TH 2015; "The Say Yes to Education program has closed its Syracuse office"

"According to the mayor's office, the job of Operating Director held by former Syracuse Parks Commissioner Pat Driscoll, has also been eliminated.

Who runs Say Yes Guilford?

Former Greensboro Assistant Manager Mary Vigue
and former Greensboro Communications Director Donnie Turlington
who now work out of a taxpayer funded library

Say Yes seems to like hiring local government officials

The program will continue to operate, but is closing the Syracuse office as a way to save money.

The Say Yes endowment fund was expected to be at $20 million by now, but it's at less than $10 million.

The mayor's office says all scholarships and programs will continue and will not be affected."

"Excluding the cost of scholarships, Say Yes Syracuse has cost more than $88 million since 2008, with more than $28 million provided by the national Say Yes organization. The school district, county, and city have provided about $56 million,

Do our local governments plan to fund Say Yes Guilford?

This looks like Syracuse got taken for a ride

...and companies, philanthropists, and other donors have given about $2.4 million."

In the comments on Guilford County's new Superintendent Sharon Contreras;

.
.
It's official, now we can dance in the streets and offer our condolences to her new district.
.
.
Glad to see her leave. Now she'll be in way over her head which is well deserved.

Too bad the Say Yes money laundering scheme won't disappear also.
.
.
Wasn't she also kicked out of her Rhode Island job?
.
.
I don't imagine she will be missed by too many. NC's loss is Syracuse's gain.
.
.
Obviously Guilford did not do their"homework"
.
.
Guilford County is watching these comments and panicking... Let's not scare them off!

Supt. Contreras ally: Lack of school board support contributed to her departure

Walt Dixie, community activist and ally to Syracuse Superintendent Sharon Contreras, attributed her departure in part to a lack of support among school board members.

he was not surprised to hear that Contreras had found a post leading a district three times Syracuse's size.
.
.
Contreras' leadership was met with resistance in some cases, including a protest about her contract renewal last year. Uprising against Contreras culminated in a no-confidence vote in 2014, when 95 percent of teachers voted "no confidence" in the superintendent.
.
.
Syracuse School Board votes 4-3 to extend Superintendent Contreras' contract for 1 year

The Syracuse City School Board voted 4-3 in favor of extending Superintendent Sharon Contreras’ contract for one year. Some current school board members, such as Pat Body, raised concerns that the vote took place before newly elected board members start in January.
