Jun 29, 2016; Louisville, Kentucky's Jefferson County Public Schools; "School district proposes partnership with non-profit Say Yes to Education"

"...DO YOU EVER THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY COLLEGE COSTS?

So now Say Yes to Education has $15 million for both Guilford County
and Jefferson County Public Schools?

...THAT WILL NOT BE A CONCERN ...IF JCPS SAYS YES TO SAY YES TO EDUCATION INITIATIVE, A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.

SAY YES IS SO EXCITING. BEN: IT'S A COOPERATIVE PROGRAM THAT WORKS WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND GOVERNMENTS TO PROVIDE MONEY FOR FULL TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS RESOURCES TO HELP THEM GET TO COLLEGE...

THEY NEED SOCIAL SERVICES. THEY NEED FOOD ASSISTANCE THEY HAVE THOSE SERVICES THAT ARE AVAILABLE THERE'S NOT A REDUCTION IN EDUCATION TIME. >> IS THIS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. MAYBE I'M A LITTLE JADED IN THAT LOOK A LITTLE DEEPER.

BEN: SO WE LOOKED DEEPER AT THE FUNDING.

SAY YES WILL KICK IN ABOUT $15 MILLION OVER FIVE YEARS BUT EACH MADE UP OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE DOLLARS.

Meaning?

THE PROGRAM'S TWO CITYWIDE PARTICIPANTS BUFFALO AND SYRACUSE, HAVE FUNDED RAISE THE FULL LONG-TERM ENDOWMENTS BETWEEN $20 MILLION AND $30 MILLION.

JCPS ESTIMATES THE PROGRAM WILL NEED A $100 MILLION ENDOWMENT TO SUSTAIN ALL THE SCHOLARSHIPS. SOUND IMPOSSIBLE?

Say Yes wants more taxpayer monies

SUPPORTERS SAY IF LOUISVILLE CAN FUND A NEW PARKS SYSTEM, IT CAN INVEST EVEN MORE IN ITS KIDS.
