On Margaret Moffett's "Downtown parking decks may be a thing of the past", Justin Outling, Tammi Thurm and our coming tax increase to pay for handouts to millionaires

"the developers will not receive any direct city financial incentives for their proposed projects"

Jim Westmoreland
.
.
"The retail space being built into the Davie Street deck will be transferred to the Westin developers in a “land swap” agreement. The city will give the retail space in exchange for a parking deck underneath the hotel."

City officials
.
.
How is giving the developers retail space to lease not a direct financial incentive Margaret?
.
.
Are you planning on reporting Justin Outling's conflict of interest for already voting for one of his partner's personal financial interests Margaret?

Mr Outling shouldn't have voted on the April 18, 2017 for direct benefit of his partner George House, on the design money for Randal and George's project while the rest of City Council shouldn't have let him, which they didn't act on, and haven't since making the rest complicit, along with reporters and editors who don't report the story.

.
.
Greensboro is paying more for Water and Sewer on top of a 300% increase in Greensboro's car tax which Justin Outling, Sharon Hightower, Yvonne Johnson, Marikay Abuzuaiter,Nancy Hoffmann and Nancy Vaughan  didn't object to, betraying our poorest citizens and many of their constituents, and now they want to prey on others with downtown jobs to pay for millions for Roy, Randall and George House.
.
.
The city said it will repay the loan with parking revenue. It plans to raise monthly parking rates throughout downtown starting Jan. 1, 2019 — from $65 a month to $80 or $90 a month.

There will be another smaller increase in 2020.

$90 a month from $65 is a $25 increase per month.

$25 x 12 = $300

$65 x 12 = $780

$300 / $780 = A 38% increase in taxes on parking to pay for Roy and Randall's new for-profit business ventures.

A $300 tax increase on monthly parkers making $30,000 per year is a 1% income tax increase.

A $300 tax increase on monthly parkers making $300,000 per year is a .1% income tax increase, or ten times less of a tax hit for some making ten times more.

City Council is proposing another regressive tax increase on Greensboro's working poor to pay for hand outs for some of Greensboro's mulitimillionairs.

City Council did the same thing when they voted to raise auto regisration from $10 to $30 per year.

This City Council is about to steal from the poor to give to their biggest campaign supporters.

These folks should be ashamed of themselves.

As pre-election campaign finance reports were due Oct. 30, the election took place on Nov. 7, and the rest of the pre/post-election filings are due Jan. 26, the public will be not be fully aware of who received what from whom before the rescheduled vote on Dec. 19.

Regressive Taxes by City Council; "Greensboro increased its vehicle tax from $10 to the maximum allowed"

http://greensboroperformingarts.blogspot.com/2017/01/regressive-taxes-by-city-council.html

Greensboro's City Council made our community's poor people pay more
so the wealthy pay less as a percentage of income
and they have been doing it for years

These folks don't know what shame is,
they just roll with it as the News and Record and friends are so in on it,
they can't figure it out enough to inform the majority of Greensboro's public of the scam

Our 'liberal' City Council really isn't

Anyone who said Greensboro didn't raise taxes last year was lying very much

http://greensboroperformingarts.blogspot.com/2016/12/anyone-who-said-greensboro-didnt-raise.html

City Council is for shafting poor people more than they already are
to pay for handouts to rental owning financial backers like Roy and Randall,
after touting "no property tax increase"
as they stole from Greensboro's poorest after blatantly lying to our community.

They don't mind kicking 'East Greensboro' residents in the groin a little bit more,
but that City Council's African American league is in on it is disgusting.

On April 18, 2017, Justin Outling seconded and voted to give Brooks Pierce Partner George House Greensboro taxpayer monies while Justin worked at Brooks Pierce

The investors behind the planned hotel and renovated Elm Street Center ...are Randall Kaplan, the CEO and chairman of the real-estate website Listingbook [and] George House, a partner with the Brooks Pierce law firm who previously represented the city in an aborted attempt to reopen the White Street Landfill [who works with Justin Outling, who should have recused himself from the vote, and didn't, violating the City charter, and who should resign]

Jordan Green
Triad City Beat, November 22, 2017

Moved by Councilmember Hoffmann, seconded by Councilmember Outling, to adopt the resolution.

The motion carried on the following roll call vote: Ayes, Nancy Vaughan, Yvonne J. Johnson, Mike Barber, Marikay Abuzuaiter, Jamal T. Fox, Sharon M. Hightower, Nancy Hoffmann, Justin Outling and Tony Wilkins
