I was thinking over the course of the last few days about how dependent above ground businesses often become on the below ground economy and how in hard economic times cities like Greensboro work even harder to crack down on the underground economy and how in cracking down on the underground economy we are actually cracking down on the entire economy be it street vendors, food trucks or panhandlers who feel the first blows. Then, thanks to local economist, W.E. Heasley I happened upon this TED video by Robert Neuwirth that pretty much proves Greensboro's current economic direction is a recipe for economic disaster.
