I recently did a public records request from the City of Greensboro and when the records came back I discovered they had left out the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau found online at VisitGreensboroNc.com. I e-mailed the City and was told the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau was not a department of the City of Greensboro.
Hum...
The mission statement of the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau states...
"The Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is an independent, non-profit governmental authority whose mission is to aggressively market Greensboro's assets, maximizing economic impact while providing excellent visitor service."
So is it a governmental body or a non profit? A quick search of the NC Secretary of State website indicates "No Records Found."
So if the NC Secretary of State has no record of the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau then is the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau a City of Greensboro department or is the City of Greensboro funneling taxpayer dollars to a non entity?
