Double Standards: A Downtown Problem That Could Have Been Solved Years Ago

We see on Fox8 that the City of Greensboro is now asking the State of North Carolina to:

" allow the DMV to block vehicle registrations, if the driver has unpaid parking tickets."

because:

"Over the past ten years, the city has accumulated more than 53,000 unpaid parking tickets, totaling about $2.3 million."

The truth is: the City of Greensboro really doesn't want to solve the problem because the problem is caused by a lack of downtown parking to which the City of Greensboro does not want to admit is a problem. Otherwise, they would have already done as cities everywhere do and resorted to this and this. Problem solved, no new laws necessary. But no, in Greensboro we only do those things to poor people and college students, never to the ones who can actually afford the costs.

I know, I spent 4 years working for a Greensboro towing company where I towed cars from UNCG and NC A&T every single day of the school year but never towed an illegally parked car from Downtown Greensboro.

Oh, the price of double standards... In this case, $2.3 Million in 10 years. You do the math.

The real problem with Greensboro... Same as it ever was...
