It appears the City of Greensboro will see cuts of around 1/2 Million Dollars due to Federal sequestration. Cuts are in housing, community development, emergency shelters, housing for persons with AIDS, and extensive cuts in various areas of workforce development.
Meanwhile, Mayor Perkins and certain others on City Council seem to have no issues with spending over $60 Million Dollars for a performing arts center and $22 Million to install water and sewer into an empty megasite in another county. Nor do they have issues with paying the private wages of corporate lobbyists to lobby on behalf of the corporations they represent or pay our hard earned tax dollars to wealthy downtown developers with whom they share seats on boards of directors of non profit and for profit companies all caught double billing the City of Greensboro. They are, after all, Greensboro's top 1%.
