GM 9-1-1 is celebrating the week with activities designed to recognize all employees. An awards ceremony will be held at 2 pm on April 16 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Special Events Center to honor the Telecommunicator of the Year, an award voted on by his or her peers for dedication to 9-1-1, being a team player and doing an outstanding job serving residents.
“We are not only recognizing our Telecommunicator of the Year but also honoring 33 Life Savers, those who have reached Master Telecommunicator status and other outstanding performance awards during the ceremony,” said Wesley Reid, Guilford Metro 9-1-1 director. “We are always pleased to take this time to thank them for a job well done.”

City Hosts April 11 Information Meeting on Lake Daniel Maintenance Project
GREENSBORO, NC (April 8, 2013) – The City’s Water Resources Department is hosting a community information meeting from 6-7 pm Thursday, April 11, at Lindley Recreation Center, 2907 Springwood Dr., on its planned removal of about 10 trees and pruning of others at Lake Daniel in the Westerwood neighborhood.
The meeting is an open house format with no formal presentation. Project maps will be on display and project team members will be available to discuss the project. Trees along the quarter-mile walking trail at the park, which circles the City’s Lake Daniel Reservoir, have been identified by the City as needing to be professionally pruned and some removed to protect trail pedestrians and reservoir property and facilities.
Water Resources staff regularly provides preventative maintenance of its properties as needed. When trees are removed, the City replaces them with other appropriate vegetation when necessary.
